How does the shown object point to a better world?
This is a galaxy lamp, a lightbulb inside a globe, moulded and coloured like the night sky. It makes me think of the future, of possibility. Just like us, each little speck of light, on its own, is dim and doesn’t create much of an effect, but when we all shine together, we can create an entire galaxy of light.
This is how I imagine a better world:
A world without profit margins, where people aren’t coerced into selling their life-time, their time to be alive, for someone else’s material greed.
A world in which people contribute willingly to the flourishing of all humans, all cultures. And are appreciated for their contribution.
A world without false-ness, fake news or misinformation — because working together for everyone’s benefit requires everyone to have the real knowledge. Deliberately misleading people makes us all wander alone.
A world where opportunities exist, without the collar of turning a profit. The opportunity to contribute in the best way you can, whether in mind or body, in thought or strength. Or both, if you’re lucky to possess both. Everyone has something.
I think I would teach, in this new world. I would teach people about broadening their perspectives, so that diversity of thinking is possible, just like diversity of being. I would teach, but I would also learn.
